HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Born: 13.02.1996
Hometown: Basel, Switzerland
It began with a bike. Well, not exactly. It began with my brother. Driving around the kitchen table with a bobby car. Eventually my endless need for movement brought me to a triathlon club. I was eight. What started as a fun kids activity soon got more serious, as puberty hit and I grew strong. I raced international triathlon competitions as a Junior and U23. Unfortunately a foot injury then forced me out of running for two years. I decided that I had seen enough of elite sports and focused on other things in life. I travelled across Europe, did internships and political projects, I came out and finished my masters degree in International Law at the University of St. Gallen.
Then COVID hit. While the world stood still, I cycled again more. Through a friend I was invited to do a women’s track session that was organised by the national team. At 24 years and after five minutes of riding round in circles, I felt that I had found a new love and finally the right sport for me. Two months later, I integrated the national team’s training, six months in I rode my first World Cup and soon after my first European and World Championships. I returned to elite sports and that’s how it all began.
GOING FOR LA 2028
«My ultimate goal is to qualify Switzerland in all endurance track disciplines (Team Pursuit, Madison and Omnium) for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, to be selected as a rider and deliver there my very best race. And who knows what I can achieve with my very best? A medal? I don’t know, but let’s get to work.»
HOW IT'S GOING
Peak Power: 1051 Watts
Resting Heart Rate: 40 bpm
After this very smooth start into the sport four years ago, my second year was riddled with failures. I was still working 80% on a legal case in an NGO alongside hustling as a now elite cyclist. Soon enough I hit a wall. I was completely burned out from chasing performance in too many areas of my life. I took a step back and was suspended from the national team at the start of 2023.
After a year of intense mental and physical work on myself, I won some international meetings and was put back on the national team. In 2024 I was not only selected to race at the European Chamionships but was also on the shortlist for the Paris Olympic Games. Despite my greatest efforts I then narrowly missed out on being selected. That was tough moment, but I decided to refocus.
I rode my first international road season in 2024 with the Italian continental team Bepink Bongioanni. I quit my job to be able to live and train as a professional cyclist. Part of this has already paid of: I rode one of my best results in an individual event at the Track Championsleague, coming 3rd in the Scratch in London in December 2024. I got invited to this prestigious series, after contributing to a great 6th place of our team pursuit at the Track World Championships in October 2024.
